Kate Nash stole my face.

Today I've been listening to Kate Nash.

I've always been torn between loving Kate or finding her rather irritating.
The first reason is her chav-esque moments that occur in her lyrics which simply annoy me.
You know that awful line "I'd rather be with your friends mate because they are much fitter"
CRINGE CRINGE A LA CRINGE.
I think the fact that at these moments she reminds me of Lily Allen is properly why I get more irate.
I used to like ole Lil but her chav outbursts were just too much for me to tolerate.
Another factor that used to annoy me was how everyone thinks that I look like her.
I never really could see the resemblance.
But looking back over old photos I can kinda get it now.
I do look vaguely like her, or maybe she looks vaguely like me.
I prefer the latter option.
Kate Nash stole my face!

.me.

Could we be sisters? Or am I secretly doing a real life Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus?

I really love this photo shoot by Alice Rosenbaum of Kate.

We kinda have the same face shape.
This is from back in may 2008 when I still had my natural hair colour.
I do miss this colour.

Anyway, today I love Kate.
Her songs made me smile, laugh and also a little bit sad.
She gets some flack for her lyrics (I blame the "fitter" remark) but I enjoy her little songlets.
They're little stories of a modern gal singing quite bluntly yet vulnerably about life, love, biscuits and getting drunk. I myself can relate to her music, and I like her. Enough said.

There's quite a few lyrics from her songs that I adore, and that completely reflect me and my life.
The song 'Don't you want to share the guilt' is one of them songs, the part where Kate speaks. I found myself enticed to listen, and taken aback as her words were alike my own thoughts.

"I dont know how more people haven´t got mental health problems
Thinking is one of those stressful things I've ever come across
And not being able to articulate what I want to say drives me crazy
I think I should try and read more books
And learn some new words
My sister used to read the dictionary
I'm going to start with that
I'd like to travel
I want to see India and the pyramids
A whale and that race with all the bicycles in France
I'm not sure about rivers, they scare me"

Here's a few songs that I simply love!
The 'Skeleton song' is adorable. I love the melody of this cute song about a girls friendship with a skeleton.
'Stitching Leggings' is an upbeat song about being unlucky but trying to see the positive in it.
I love 'Birds' from the first time I heard it. It reminded me of a boy I don't talk about no more. But yeh, I love this song.
'Mariella' is awesome. I love this song about the weird little girl. She seems so cool yet under appreciated.
And 'The Nicest Thing', this is the song that makes me sad. But its such a beautifully amazing song. I do love.

"This Little Girl She grew up and moved away and she
She lived her life full of risk and full of play and she
She lived her life, with so much to say, and
Her flowers they grow more beautiful everyday."

Kitterty kat catt prat tap purrrr rar rar meow lady girl me? huh? yeh!

Have I ever mentioned that I like cats?
Well I do.
I'd maybe go as far to say that I'd very much like to be a cat.
I meow and squeak, have a tendency to scratch and bite, enjoy chasing butterflies around the garden, love my independence, I'm a giant wuss, I don't do as I'm told, I'm quite nocturnal, I like naps after my dinner and I'm kinda fond of having my belly rubbed.

Here's my kitty kat.

I've decided.
I want a cat mask.
I have a rubber catwoman one, it's a little fetish but yet quite Enid Ghost World -esque.
But no, no, no, it simply won't do.
I want a more cute one.
Any of these please:

So yeh, I like and want them all. Typical me.
The pink is awesomely cute, the gold/blue and black/silver half face masks are terrifically ELECTRIC!
And the white cat full face mask, golly I'll be a proper kitty with that!
But I'd be happy if I received any one of them.
I can imagine the excitement. I'd whizz it on sooo fast and then I'd dress up and prance about and be a real live kitty kat.
Basically be like this;

PLEASE mommy, can I have it?

This past week has been a major emotional roller-coaster in Clarebear land. You know when you think that everything has gone wrong and that its the end of the world, well I kinda had one of those situations. But thanks to some amazing friends for making me smile and a wardrobe door for knocking some sense into me, I'm feeling that maybe life isn't so bad. When something shitty happens it can really drag you down but the impact of kindness can illuminate your whole attitude.

You may be thinking, what the hell has this got to do with cats?
Well, I've decided I'm gonna be the crazy old cat lady.
That is, if life pretending to be a real live cat isn't as satisfying as one expects.
Big decision, I know.
But I'm quite content with being the barmy ole cat biddy.
And you may be thinking why in hell would I want to be some nutter with loads of cats and having the aroma of wee about me. Well, someone has to be right? And why not me.
It might not be so bad.
I could turn this crazy cat lady into a cool and sexy new craze, if these fashion editorials have anything to go by.
These gals look pretty damn swishy. A little crazed but still glam. They don't look like they pong of cat pee that's for sure.
Yes, yes, I know they're just fashion editorials, and not real life. But in the land of Clarebear; unicorns and faeries roam the land, so pretty much anything is possible!
(Just play along for my sake)

(OK, that mousey thing Claudia's wearing is kinda freaky and would totally wig me out if I saw it with my eyeballs. But how amazing does she look?!)

But you never know do you. Knowing my luck I'll turn out like that crazy cat lady from The Simpsons.

So yehh, that crazy lady might just be me in the future, throwing cats at you and talking jibber jabber.
But hey, least I might have the prospect of having an action figure made of me! Cool huh?

I've rambled farrrrr tooooooooooo much now.

Bed.

Sleep.

Creative Juices.

It has been a while since I last used my sewing machine, I have been a little drained recently but today I felt a serge of creative energy and took to my machine again and made a dress inspired by Goldie Locks. Its not finished yet but the main body of the dress is done. I'll upload pictures when I'm finally happy with it.

I started my day looking upon facebook where I spotted that a friend from university, Charlene O'Rourke, also had a blog. I was really impressed by her style diary which she kept and her fashion imagery she has been researching which corresponded with her style diary. I definitely recommend checking her blog out.
Her sources from her latest blog were from internet magazines, such as Cheek and Soko. Both were interesting and had great shoots in them.
They lead me to the website Issuu - You Publish, which hosts thousands of magazines to view online in many different subject categories. One shoot in particular stood out to me and that was in the Dutch publication Blend magazine.

It was this cover image taken from the Nude Attitude shoot that really excited me.
Here are a few of the rest from this collection.

Its quite simple yet very effective. My favourite is the one with the green wig, I guess inspired by The Joker from The Dark Knight.
I have seen the use of tights worn over the face with loud bold make up before in John Galliano's menswear spring 2007 collection.

Watch the show below.

I was intrigued in what other works the photographer from the Blend magazine did, so checked out his site. His name is Tomas Näsström and I was extremely impressed with his photography skills.

Upon the site where I found Tomas Näsström it showcases other photographers, stylists, set designers and illustrators. I haven't managed to look through at many of the other artists, but the ones I did I quite liked. So you can imagine all of this awesome creativeness I was discovering that I would have a sudden burst of my own creative juices. And I really hope it lasts. Fingers crossed no more being ill!

My Golden Mane

Hello and welcome to my new ginger hair.

I had grown so tired of my washed out black locks and decided finally it had to go!
I've been red before, but not orange.
I feel all ethereal with my golden mane, and quite Autumny. Although we are now heading into winter.
When I come to think of it, I am quite a fan of the red headed folk.
I have grown up being fond of cartoon characters such as The Little Mermaid's Ariel, Jessica Rabbit and Ginger from As Told By Ginger.
Lets not forget growing up with Cilla Black, what a character!
But my all time fave red head would have to be David Bowie as his alta ego's Aladdin Zane and Ziggy Stardust!

Here's a few of cool and impressionable golden maned kats I like.

1 Cyndi Lauper
My love and icon Cyndi! God has she made such an impression on me growing up. I always wanted to be just like her when I was younger. I adore her style and her singing voice.

2 Lily Cole
Now I am definitely not the biggest fan of models, they kinda all look the same and don't really have anything surpazz about them to wow me to like them. But Lily looks like an alien and I love it! She's ginger and intelligent and is starring in the fantasy surreal film The Imaginarium Of Doctor Parnassus by Terry Gilliam who also made The Adventures of Baron Munchausen which I adored as a child. And she's going to play Alice in a film written and directed by Marilyn Manson about Lewis Carroll. This kitten is definitely awesome in my books.

3 Katharine Isabelle aka Ginger from Ginger Snaps
I love the film Ginger Snaps and Katharine Isabelle's portrayal of Ginger really captured me. I liked her dark kooky personality, and how she was thought of as the weird chick who got hot, but was still weird.

4 Kate Nash
Is Kate Nash ginger? I don't know for sure, but she definitely has the ginger twinge. People often say I look like le ole Nash face, and I've never really got it. I used to get annoyed by the comparison but it doesn't really bother me these days.

5 Hayley Williams; Paramore.
The little ginger rocker has really come into her own over the coming years. I kind of swing between not minding her to loving her. She kinda reminds me of a modern day more grungey Cyndi.

6 Florence Welch; Florence and the machine
I wasn't so keen on Florence when she first came around. Though as time has gone by she has started to grow on me. Her face still annoys me a little, but her style and music has grown on me like a rash.

7 Geri Halliwell aka Ginger Spice
My favourite Spice Girl, Geri was sexy and sassy, feisty and flirty, and I was always the one who demanded to be her in the school playground with my friends when we pretended to be the famous five. Even not long back in uni me and the gals was gonna dress up as The Spice Girls and she was still the one I wanted to dress as, union jack dress go go boots and all. Ahhh she was fab wasn't she! Though I much prefer her curvy than stick thin.
