The Lost Boys Fashion Tribute

Have you ever watched a film and felt over whelmingly inspired by the fashion stylings and awesome character portrayals? I often do! Everytime I watch The Lost Boys my mind starts racing; imagining female designs for a collection based on the Lost Boys. Half way through the film I kinda just wanna run upstairs and start pairing clothes from my wardrobe, and rumage through jewellery boxes to create a vampire grungy Lost Boys look. 
Ohhh you do gotta love a good gothic style!
I just love the structured jackets paired with torn vests and skinny dirty jeans with biker boots (which is actually quite a today fashion trend) Its the 80s vibe I love, the slight new romantic yet hair metal rock star status attitude. Oh and the big hair! But lets not forget that they are blood sucking vampire fiends that wanna kill you, not like Buffy or Twilight sexy moody vampires, no no, these are Quentin Tarantino blood spraying esque beasts, yet you can't help feel that this dangerous element is a super style turn on!

As you can see from the pictures above, its the men that get to dress up and look dark gothic and well...dead. So I've flicked through designers collections past and present to find clothes which I would style in The Lost Boys theme.

Obviously 'black' is gonna be a recurring element to this style theme, although tones of grey and random splashes of colour soften the harshness of the black. Structured and tailored jackets play key to skinny or hareem trousers. Pairing structual elements with soft drapey items soften the masculine essence. Though masculine vibes are throughout this style is sexy and sexual. These clothes armour the female so she is always ready to pounce on her victim. Feminine elements are dressed with harsh tones of leather, chains, trousers and oversized jackets. There's a mixture of formal and casual yet both have a dirty torn essence. Stylish accessories add to the theme with chunky wedge heels, blackest BLACK sunglasses, gloves, chains, large brimmed hats (obviously to protect from sun rays) Elements of futuristism coinsides within the fabric, cut, make-up and accessories.

Why hello there twenty//eleven

So now its the start of a new year; I thought it fetching to have a new blog header, consisting of one of my new illustrations. I know, I get so easily bored, but hey that's an arty airhead for you. Below is the actual illustration my new blog header came from. The illustration is of Topshops promo image for their "Love to Love" t-shirt tribrute to Fashion Targets Breast Cancer. The photo and the cause behind it spurred a reaction of inspiration in me and so the dedication of this illustration.

The tale of Tony and the Badger

Once upon a time, in a land far far away there lived a boy called Tony who had long curly hair. Tony loved his curly hair and thought his hair was the best in all the land. But Tony would become very jealous if anyone had hair that rivalled his. 

One day when coming back from The Cribs gig he spotted a badger strolling along the pathway. But this was no ordinary badger. This badger had amazing hair! Tony became so jealous. He could not stand that this badger with his fandabby doobie hair was cooler than him. So he grabbed a chupa chub lolly pop out of his pocket gave it a mighty lick and threw the strawberry and cream lolly, where it landed right on the badgers back! The badger started to cry as Tony pointed and laughed. The badger called for help and a pigeon came to his aid and helped peck the lolly out of the badgers hair. 

But the badgers fur had become all sticky and had to go and ask a duck to help him wash it out. The duck was very good at cleaning but in return for his help wanted a loaf of bread. So the badger had to travel far and wide to track down a unicorn who could help him repay the duck. So the magical unicorn searched for Tony and found him staring at his reflection in the back of a tea spoon. The unicorn snuck up behind Tony and poked him up his bottom which made him squeal and squeak in shock. The unicorn told Tony off for being very, very naughty and to stop bullying the woodland creatures for having better hair than him. 

Tony felt very sorry for upsetting the badger and ran to his kitchen and baked 7 loafs of bread to give to the duck. He apologised to badger for being mean and begged for his forgiveness and gave badger a life long supply of hairspray. The badger was very kind and forgave him and asked Tony to be his friend, and from that day Tony and the badger became the best of friends. They both had many adventures together and became known as the pair with the most stylish swishy hair.

Snow Queen: Maxi Dresses

I spotted on Topshop's website a while ago their trend feature titled SNOW QUEEN and it really excited me. With gorgous pastel neutral tones and beautiful textures layered upon one another. The word to describe it is "mesmerizing".
The key piece for me was the stunning chiffon beaded maxi dress, which is perfect to wear for the winter season, capturing the essence of the theme Snow Queen. 
This inspired me to post my 12 favourite 'Snow Queen' inspired maxi dresses, of course starting with the Topshop wonder:

Witch VS Ethereal

I am and will always be in love with gothic Witchy stylings and well.. everything that is Ethereal. Both are quite contrasting as one is dark and mysterious and the other is magical and whimsical, but despite that they both are kinda connected and complement one another. Wicca is a nature oriented religion, which ties both witch and ethereal together.


I spotted this super cute Kleenex advert which contains both characters:



Isn't it cute!

I love both witch and ethereal fashion stylings so much and simply couldn't pick one over the other. I do mainly dress more ethereal-ie than gothy but do want to mix both the stylings together more, as it creates a gritty pretty edge.
