Ethereal Wonderland

Hello there! I've changed my blog header (again) as I fancied a change. I've used another cropped illustration of mine but this time merged it with prettyful flowers which I feel suits my style a wee more as I love all that is ethereal and floral.

Which reminds me of some of the beautiful pieces I have found recently, like this stunning rabbit wall hanging which I've turned into a necklace:
Isn't it simply divine! and only cost me 40p! I've had loads of people commenting on it when I've worn it saying pretty it is and how it reminds them of Alice in Wonderland. It reminds me more so of the ultimately sad cartoon Watership Down.

And this delightful Moss coloured suede handbag with ornate detailing:
I absolutely love the colour, and cost £3.25. It matches the bunny necklace quite sweetly.

This stunning cameo brooch:
I found this beaut in my local charity shop for 95p. I really like cameo's and have a small collection of them, I espechially like how this lady here though looks young and a little like a Greek Goddess.

And I simply love these granny shoesies:
I know they're not everyone's taste but I LOVE them! They're a dark navy blue suede and they're sooo comfy as well as being granny chic. Plus they were only £1.95 a shere B.A.R.G.I.N. if I do say so myself. Also I've just noticed how they do quite match the cameo brooch above.

(All items found in various charity shops around Birmingham)

And to end my ethereal post-y-ma-jig with a lovely song by the marvelous band Fleetwood Mac:

You set me on fire LADYHAWKE!

Meow! Firstly; LADYHAWKE! LADYHAWKE! LADYHAWKE! La Clare likes Miss Ladyhawke, she has this 80s element to her which I love! My fave song of hers is definitely 'Back of the Van'. Here is an illustration I did of her in la back of a van, that is being engulfed in flames, somewhere far far off in la galaxy with a magical white horse which will take her back to Paris.
People often likened me to looking similar to her album artwork, below:

Well today should have been an uberly long stressful day at work, but fortunately I finished surprisingly early wwoooooooooooooopppp! And how did I celebrate my sudden freedom you ask? Well after skipping in la sunshine and humming along to lyricless songs, I went on a good splashing of 'CHAZZA SHOPPING' (meaning visiting la local charity shops on la hunt for magical finds). And OHHH! MY! I found some fantastical marvels today! Included two awesomely awesome winter coats, a vintage knit cardi with beautifully delicate metal fancy clasps, the tinyiest and cutest of porcelin tea cups, an amazingly tacky picture in frame, a wooden elf man with a huuuuuuggge nose whom I shall hang in my room, a wooden mederterain belly dancing woman figure whom shall marry la wooden elf man and they shall have wooden babies together! and AND I got a vintage limited celebration edition boxset of Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through The Looking Glass at an jaw droppingly cheap price! Oh I'm still ever so excited over my finds :D

Deirdre Barlow barnacles, giant onions, cheese from Ethel and Clareodactyl

Today I had an opticians appointment, I've worn glasses for around 10 years now, not all the time as my sight isn't so impaired, but I need them for reading, sewing and computer jazz. I found out today though that my left eye has deteriorated a lot since my last visit. So kittens some new glasses are needed for bear to see properly.
Uber excitedness ooooohh yes.
I picked out some practical yet totally clarebear swishtastic ones, and got anti reflective lenses which will be better for me when I'm on wee Betty Beartop (my mac).
I don't have a picture of the beasts but they look somewhat like these:

Yes soooo Deirdre Barlow! I love them!

Mine are pink and grey plastic beasts though and not brown. But trust me they are immense!

After sorting out my barnacles me and mother went ooo la shopping, nothing special really. I did find a dress and a tweed jacket for my shoot with Lacey in my good ole faithful local charity shop. You can read about what we are planning for the shoot here . I also found pretty pink top/dress that's just a wee bit gypsy/hippie vibe. I LOVE IT!
But as shopping for ooo la veg I spotted this monster beast!

I mean ooohhh myy goddd! I dunno about you but I've never seen a freak giant sized onion this size before. I dunno maybe I'm hanging around in the wrong places. I mean seriously you could whack someone with this and do some damage its that big! Look its actually bigger than my hands! Weird ass vegetables man confuse me.

So after the excitement of the monster veg, we pondered over to a card shop where ooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhh mmmmmmmmmyyyyyyyyy I wanna wee my pants!!!!!!
Get this, dinosaurs with people's names on! And before you think "what's special about that" Check this out:

Clareodactyl!
Clare-o-dact-yl!
Clare-o-frigging-dact-yl!
OMG I almost wet myself with glee.
I do kinda wish they would spell my name correctly first, and not smaller underneath. Lame none fans of Clare's without le "i". And why am I always blue??? I have no idea why but everything related to my name and star sign is always blue. I don't really like blue. I'm a pink and purple gal. Even green would make a change. GOD enough of my colour moaning! CLAREODACTYL DINOSAUR orgasmic totally! God I love dinosaurs! O

And and check out what the description says!
"Engergetic and daring with the sweetest squawk in the skies!"
OMG OMG that is so unreal to be true! I squawk and squeak and meow!
This day was turning out completely different than originally expected.

And to end my wee bloggerrooooo.
Capricorn cheese by Ethel le goat.
Says it all really.

Bigging up le Medway Posse!

So I am now back from my Medway adventure, and what a roller-coaster of manicness it was. I went back to a la Medway on Thursday to visit all the guys and gals from uni, whom I've missed so much, and also for the annual event of the Dickens Festival in Rochester. This is a surreal festival where people dress as Dickens characters and parade up and down the historical Rochester high street where Charles Dickens grew up and based some of his works there. I've seen the festival for the last three years as I used to work in Rochester and I really wanted to go back again this year. So I did. But me being a lame ass I never took any pictures of my time in ala Medway at all expect a handful of semi drunk lovecats dancing. But if you wanna see what Dickens Festival is like click here.

I've missed Medway a lot since moving back to Brum. I never thought I would but I really do. Birmingham just doesn't feel like home anymore, and although many of my friends no longer live in Medway it still has this sentimental value of home to it.
I did get to see and catch up with some amazingly magical people during my short visit, all of whom I've missed dearly. I do feel so refreshed now, even though I am majorly sleepy still, Clare no like travelling.

And I did my favourite ever thing that I love to do in ala Medway.
SHOPPING!
Not just shopping, oh no. Chazza shop shopping. Medway is full of charity shops and I dare say I do think I spent more time in the charity shops than I did studying or being drunk.
I hit all the usual haunts of charity shops and antic stores and brought some awesomely amazing things. Many of which I canny tell you about as they are special presents for ala special people. But I did get a few jizz jazzes for me.
Here's the little beasties.

Black and white floral cardigan £4.30 British Heart Foundation

The Rocky Horror Picture Show LP 50p The National Childrens Trust

Blue plastic Hawaiian bead necklace 50p, gold Asian necklace £1.50 both Sue Ryder Care

Face brooch 99p Oxfam, Beaded bracelet 50p; Black stone ring £1.25 both Sue Ryder Care, and Marzipan bar £2.25 Rochester Sweet Bar.

The Marzipan wasn't a charity shop/ antic find but it was still an awesomeness of love and sugar find.

I do have a paisley floral print purple skirt I brought from Scope for £1.50 but mommy has whacked it in le wash.

So yehh Clarebear really enjoyed her mini break and is now back in Bum town for le upcoming not wanting but gotta have 23rd birthday and xmas holidays.
But I'll leave you with my friend Mr Hill, Harry.

A Dandy Delight

The other day whilst exercising my favourite past time of 'charity shopping'  I found this charming little ornament. Now I know that it is definitely not to everyone's taste but I simply couldn't resist falling for its quaintness. Very naively made and painted its charm captured my heart. Admittingly looking at this figurine of a dandy fellow chap and his sailor attired 'gal and I couldn't help but think how much it reminded me of myself and Liam, if we were dandy people from the past of course, off on one of our adventures, gazing off into the sunset.

And now this bonny pair live on my dressing table.
