So long, fare well; Alexander McQueen

Today has been a funny ole day. But to top it all is the sadness of Alexander McQueen's tragic death. It's oh so sad. I can't quite believe it. Only the other day was I talking about the marvel. And now this. It's such a sad situation. Here are two video clips to celebrate the talented innovator. These montages portray the magic his collections possess and present why he is so loved.

When I run in the dark, Daniel, I dream of home

Bat for Lashes "Daniel" illustration by me; clare and the bear.
I absolutely love Bat for Lashes!
Natasha Khan's voice is beautifully eerie and sits perfectly with her
ethereal songs. I adore her style, she's a magical hippie with a huge
essence of Peter Pan's Tiger Lily. Her quaint videos tell echoing
stories with heart breaking lyrics to match. The music video for
"Daniel" inspired me to draw. The haunting entities attired in black
which are tormenting Khan reminded me of the evil dress from
"Legend" where it seduces the princess into darkness, and also
reminded me of Gareth Pugh's early collections.

beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, BEETLEJUICE

These illustrations are from a first year project at university, which consisted of selecting a designer to design a mini collection for. My chosen designer; GARETH PUGH.
As Pugh is a conceptual designer I decided to use inspiration from Tim Burton's 80s fantasy film, and huge love of mine, BEETLEJUICE.
Anyone remember the cartoon series of the awesome show??
Noooo!
Then you are L-A-M-E !

"Take my doll put on her pretty clothes, no I won't soil her dress, brush her hair paint her lips like a rose, cover up her mess"

My pretty little kitten girls

Welcome to the doll house. Young, naive and innocent, this is a fresh summer collection inspired by dolls. This collection possesses a childlike ambience with its silky, delicate fabrics in an array of soft, faded, powdery tones.
This project is from my first year of university and was about designing clothes for a high street store, in which I selected H&M. It is strange looking back upon my old work. I got a good grade for this project, even though now I look over the work I can see so many mistakes, and there are many things I would change to improve my work. Although I do adore the illustrations. This was before I had photoshop on my laptop, and I canny remember which program I used, but they turned out pretty dapper.

And all these beauties have names, from the very top there's Tilly, then there's (small images) Molly, Maggie, Daisy, Poppy, Polly, Betty, Lily, Holly and finally (large image above) Rosie.
Below is the mood board for this project. It's not the best I must admit, but it does its job.
